Spa Fill Instructions

NEW SPA FILL INSTRUCTIONS What to do:
Step 1 After your hot tub has been electrically connected, it is time to fill the spa with warm water (if possible).  Do not use tap water that is softened.
Step 2 Remove the factory installed filter. Place the end of the garden hose several inches into the pipe or opening where the filter was located.
Step 3 Turn on the hose at full pressure and begin to fill the spa with water.
Step 4 Check water level to ensure proper fill depth.  The proper fill depth is 2-3 inches above the top of the spa filter. Improper fill depth could lead to improper circulation.
Step 5 After your spa is properly filled and the filter cartridge is replaced, the power should be turned on immediately (as per your electrician's instructions).
Step 6 Turn on the spa's jet buttons.  Repeat turning jets on and off several times to insure proper operation.  If water circulation cannot be established or other operational issues exist, please call Watermark's Service Center at 1-800-530-2133 or e-mail us at service@watermarkspas.com
Step 7 After you have filled the spa, add 2 ounces of stain and scale product.  You will add this product again only upon your next drain and refill.  Stain and scale will remove all unwanted metals and minerals from the water.  After 15 minutes, add 1 teaspoon of chlorine per 250 gallons of water and 2 bromine tablets (in skimmer) per 250 gallons of water.  See the Spa Care Guide below for start-up, daily, weekly and monthly spa water chemistry recommendations.
Step 8 Set the temperature of the spa to your desired level. 100° to 104° F is recommended.
Note If your spa is located outdoors and temperatures are expected to be at 32 F or lower, a light bulb must be placed inside of the equipment area located under the spa. This is to prevent your spa from freezing.

Spa Care Guide

When: What to do:
Spa Start-up and Every 4 Months Drain and refill your spa. Do this a minimum of 4 times per year or more often with strong usage.
Everyday Run the pump and filter system a minimum of 2-4 hours daily (depending on spa model and capacity). This can be set automatically in most spas as per owner's manual.
After Each Use Close air controls to minimize chemical dispersion.  Close cover to prevent water exposure to elements.
As needed Check water level to ensure proper fill depth.  This is 2-3 inches above the top of the spa filter. Improper fill depth could lead to improper circulation.
Once Per Month Rinse off filter cartridge with high pressure hose (strong water spray).  Occasionally, soak the filter in a filter cleaner/degreaser product for 8-12 hours, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
Twice Per Year Protect your wooden spa cabinet by applying "Duckback®" brand stain. For synthetic cabinets use 303 Protectant®.  This cleaner may also may be used to clean your vinyl spa cover.  Do not use Armor All®.  Do not use products that contain ammonia (such as Windex) because use of ammonia may damage spa finish.  To prevent cracks, polish/clean spa finish with approved spa products only.
